Wishing for a prosperous year! Ise Katagami Carving and Dyeing Kit

Why not consider crafting Ise Katagami (stencils) depicting the twelve months of the year while reflecting on the passing of the seasons? Ise Katagami, a traditional craft from Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture, is a kimono dyeing stencil designated as an important national artisanal skill. Under the guidance of Ise Katagami craftsman Kataya 2110, participants will complete two types of stencils each month: one featuring a seasonal motif and one featuring a traditional all-over pattern. Kataya 2110 craftsmanship creates stencils by laminating multiple layers of washi paper with persimmon tannins, then smoking and sun-drying them. Soothe yourself in the fragrant aroma as you carefully cut one piece at a time. By combining the two types of stencils, you can create a piece that will add a seasonal touch to your room. We also recommend Kataya 2110's recommended design knives and cutting mats.
