Clutch bag made from natural silk thread

The formal white wedding kimono has adorned Japanese brides since the Muromachi period. The beautiful fabric is facing the challenge of shrinking the traditional Japanese clothing industry and is in danger of disappearing due to a lack of successors. This clutch bag, designed to fit into modern life, was created to pass on this irreplaceable "traditional Japanese beauty" to the next generation.

The production of Shiromuku wedding kimonos is supported by Kyoto weavers who have inherited the traditional techniques of Nishijin weaving. While preserving tradition, skilled artisans continue to create new textiles with free-thinking, unconstrained by preconceived notions.

Although Shiromuku fabric is usually large in pattern, we have adopted an originally designed arabesque pattern to make it look beautiful on a clutch bag. This delicate pattern is further enhanced by the use of natural pure silk (shoken) for the outer fabric, which gives off an elegant sheen. This clutch bag is characterized by the weightiness of the pattern, which makes it stand out plumply, and the natural brilliance of silk.
