Matsui Textiles is the only weaving company in Toyama Prefecture to carry on the 450-year tradition of Johana silk since its founding in 1877. They are renowned for their "shike silk," which can only be produced by two companies in Japan. This single-piece pillowcase is made using plenty of "shike silk," a very precious silk woven using "tamaito," which is spun from rare cocoons that make up only about 3% of the total. It is characterized by thicker threads than usual, and the unique texture that appears in places, resembling knots.
