A light shawl made from Banshu weave. A play of colors to wear with ease.

Banshuori is characterized by its "pre-dyed" weaving technique, in which the threads are dyed before weaving. This large shawl allows you to fully enjoy the beauty of the rich colors created by the overlapping colors of the warp and weft threads. Woven slowly and gently on an old rapier loom, it is exceptionally soft and airy. Despite its size, it is surprisingly light, and when wrapped around the neck, it creates a striking volume.

"I want to create a one-of-a-kind shawl that will bring a smile to the faces of many people." After a chance encounter with Banshuori, Tamaki Niime was captivated and moved to Nishiwaki City, the birthplace of Banshuori. Using a wide variety of textile machinery, she creates colorful shawls for tamaki niime using original yarns that take advantage of the distinctive characteristics of Banshuori, a yarn-dyed technique. The origins of the shawls lie in the soft fabrics she arrived at through her natural inquisitiveness, operating the machines and experimenting. "All of our artisans continue to research and take on new challenges, cherishing the desire to weave something like this! It's not a self-indulgent pursuit, but rather a desire to bring joy to many people," says Tamaki. She is currently working on creating shawls from pesticide-free cotton. She is also working on recycling, utilizing leftover yarns and scraps. "The large shawl, which looks most beautiful when worn, is tamaki niime's first item. It is recommended for people of all ages and genders, and is something you can proudly give as a gift to yourself or someone special. I would like to make all the items one-of-a-kind, but this time I have made them in a range of colors and patterns so that customers will not receive something they don't like. Each one is a color and pattern that will make you think, 'I want to use this for a hundred years.'"
