Shako-chan
<Large, flat clay figurine>
<Clay figurine with hands clasped in prayer>
The mascot is meticulously reproduced using printing.
On the back of "Shako-chan," you can see a glimpse of the buried part.

On the back of the <Praying Clay Figurine>, you can see a glimpse of the buried portion.
When you hold it in your hand, it's as if you've excavated it right in the palm of your hand!
During the Meiji era, this clay figurine was accidentally unearthed, and its discovery led to the name "Shakoki Dogu" (goggle-eyed clay figurine). It is slightly turned to the left, with the holes between its eyes serving as the nose and mouth, and the hole in its stomach serving as the navel.
This is the largest flat clay figurine from the Sannai-Maruyama site. It is cruciform in shape, thin, and features depictions of a face, chest, and holes, including a hole leading from the mouth to the feet. The head and torso were unearthed at a separate location.
It is characterized by its unusual pose: sitting with both knees bent and hands clasped together in front of the chest. It was designated a National Treasure in 2009 as something that conveys the deep faith and prayer of the Jomon people.
