Shine carving kit commissioned original drawings from three currently popular Nebuta artists: Hiroo Takenami, the 7th generation Nebuta master, Shigeki Tezuka, and Takashi Nomura. Shine carving is a new type of handcraft in which the parts carved with a carving knife look like transparent glass. The smooth carving is addictive, and the gorgeous Nebuta that emerges from the darkness is fantastical, as if it captures the night of the festival. Use the included wooden stand to enjoy a display that makes the most of the transparency. A carving knife set with a small blade that makes carving easy is also available separately.
