Polar bear piggy bank friends.

The seal piggy bank series, featuring illustrations by renowned designers from Japan and abroad, became a huge hit about 10 years ago. In 2022, the plain seal piggy bank was relaunched, without the illustrations. Like the polar bear piggy bank, this is a reproduction of a piggy bank originally produced as a novelty item by a Finnish bank. It has a ceramic-like appearance but is actually made of plastic. It comes with a steel key, allowing you to access money from the bottom. The motif of this seal piggy bank is the Saimaa ringed seal. It is said to be the world's rarest freshwater seal, with a current population of around 350 to 400, and is only found in Lake Saimaa in Finland. It is designated an endangered species by the WWF, and efforts are underway to protect it.
