A new and wonderful "Furin" has been born, combining Kyoto techniques and the wind.

A new "orin" was born based on the concept of "a beautiful sound dedicated to Benten". Benten is known as the deity and Buddha who governs the arts. She is also familiar as one of the Seven Lucky Gods who bring "fortune", but her origins go back to the river goddess of ancient India. We hope that by offering a beautiful sound to such a venerable Benten, you will be able to make good connections, and we have created a special "orin" by bringing together the skills of Kyoto's artisans. For the "kumihimo", we asked Hatta, a craftsman at the long-established Kyoto store "Shoen Kumihimo", to carefully weave the special kumihimo using two colors of silk thread: blue, which represents the river goddess; gold, which represents fortune; and white, which represents the use of a white snake. The "orin" is made by the skilled craftsmanship of Mr. Nanjo of Nanjo Kobo, a specialized workshop of musical instruments for Shinto and Buddhist altars with a history of about 200 years, and is made of Sahari alloy, which was also used in the treasures of Shosoin Repository in ancient times, resulting in a high-pitched tone. The pure tone that resonates endlessly in the wind will help you forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and invite you into a time of quiet meditation.

What is an "orin"?
It is one of the "Bonongu" (Sanskrit musical instruments) used in Buddhist ceremonies. (The name varies depending on the sect.) It is said that the clear sound of the Orin can carry prayers all the way to the Pure Land.

"LinNe"
Nanjo Kobo, which was founded in Kyoto over 190 years ago and specializes in the manufacture of festival gongs and other Buddhist and Shinto instruments for the Gion Festival and other local events, has launched this original brand with the desire to make the sound of Sahari Orin more accessible to everyone.

This beautiful braided cord is inspired by Benten, using gold (fortune and fortune), two shades of blue (river), and white (messenger white snake).
