This unique shape is the result of the time-consuming process of joining the upper and lower parts by hand. The traditional techniques of Mino ware artisans give it the rich flavor of pottery, even though it is made of porcelain.

White pottery produced during the Momoyama period as a type of Oribe ware.

Oribe was a favorite of Furuta Oribe, a feudal lord and tea master from Mino. The green color is particularly famous.

This black pottery is said to have been made to the tastes of Sen no Rikyu during the Azuchi-Momoyama period.
