The surface of the vat is decorated with gold and silver paint to depict kirin (lion-like creatures) and flowers, as well as with underpainted porcelain and flower-shaped mother-of-pearl inlay.

A mirror with a floral design made of mother-of-pearl on the back. The center of the flower is made of red amber, and the background of the design is a black resinous substance inlaid with blue lapis lazuli and small pieces of white and light blue turquoise.
