A miraculous landscape just for you.

These two watches perfectly fulfilled the request from Japanese Craftsmen Project: "You may never actually see this in your lifetime, but if you could, what would it be like to see it?" This seemingly impossible request was fulfilled by Takashi Ushijima, art director of a watch workshop in Kanazawa. Ushijima, who is also active as a Japanese painter, used a technique called tamari-nuri to depict never-before-seen landscapes. One of these landscapes is "Deep Sea." The first layer adds a purple shadow to the edges, and after that dries, a transparent blue is applied to the center, creating a sense of depth as if diving into the depths of the dial. The other landscape is "Aurora." To represent the vastness of the night sky, this one is also painted in two layers to create depth. Fine glitter is added to the second layer of paint, evoking a sky filled with tiny twinkling stars. Carefully selecting art materials to ensure the first and second layers overlapped beautifully, the piece was finally completed. Even Ushijima found it difficult to control the paint's spread when applying two coats. The fluctuations that can only be achieved by hand overlap with the beauty of nature, which humans cannot control. This small miracle born on the dial is one of a kind. Rather than checking the time, enjoy this mysterious beauty as if you were enjoying the scenery unfolding before your eyes.
