Takashima Chijimi's hometown is Takashima City, located in the northwest of Lake Biwa. This land is blessed with water, and the industry has been handed down since the Edo period. Now, the entire process from twisting the yarn to finishing is carried out in Takashima, using the running water of the Azumi River. The "shibo" that is the key to Takashima Chijimi is made by using tightly twisted yarn as the weft and embossing the roll of cloth. The uneven surface of the fabric reduces the area that comes into contact with the skin, and even if you sweat, it does not stick to your skin, maintaining a refreshing feel. It could be called a refreshing savior for Japan's humid summers.
