Layering pants or leggings under a dress is a signature look for Mimi. By simply choosing a spring-like lemon yellow, she created a much fresher impression. While a dress with a concealed placket can be simple and sometimes monotonous, the pop of yellow adds rhythm to the look.
"When creating an outfit with an accent color, people often use dark colors so that even a small area stands out, but this pale yellow is also lovely! It was a new discovery for me."

(Left) "If you unbutton only the bottom part of your top to show more of your underwear, the yellow will catch your eye every time you walk, and it's sure to get you in the spring mood!"
(Right) If you're wearing a lightweight dress, you can tie it around your waist to change the silhouette. It also neatly covers up a protruding stomach.

This outfit features a dark-toned dress with a touch of yellow to enhance the spring-like feel.
"I chose this dress as the main item because I really love the nostalgic feel of the combination of the round collar and check pattern. To add a spring-like touch, I draped a yellow knit over my shoulders and kept the look light with white shoes."

(Left) This tightly woven cotton knit, like a sweatshirt, has just the right amount of weight, making it easy to drape over your shoulders without feeling bulky, and is very practical.
(Right) If you look closely, you can see rainbow-colored lines within the Black Watch pattern. The golden rule for choosing accent colors is to pick up colors from within the check pattern.

When you drape the knit sweater over your shoulders with the front facing upwards, the side buttons become visible, adding a subtle accent to the back style.

It creates a well-balanced look even when layered with knitwear. The puffy sleeves and the asymmetrical hemline create definition and also help to flatter your figure.

"Next, I'll add some yellow with accessories. This canvas bag is a deep yellow, so it might stand out a bit too much if paired with light-toned clothes. It fits perfectly because this is a well-balanced outfit of a white dress and black cardigan."

Black and white socks add a sharp contrast to your feet.

Incidentally, this sock set is a special item created through a collaboration between Mimi and "Sunny Clouds." Both the striped and polka dot designs have an exquisite balance of black and white, and have been very well received with comments like, "It's something that seems like it should exist but doesn't!"

"Actually, there's one more item I'm interested in this spring. It's a loose-fitting vest like this one. Thanks to its moderate thickness and cable knit texture, it doesn't cling to the body, and the armholes are wide open, making it easy to put on and take off. Plus, it makes everyday clothes look stylish. I feel like shouting, 'A savior for our generation has arrived!' (laughs)."

Finally, we'll introduce an outfit featuring a yellow dress. The long cardigan creates an I-line silhouette, making the whole look slimmer.
"When you're out in the spring and get home late, it's reassuring to have a light jacket or cardigan. And it's even more reassuring if you plan on an outfit that maintains its balance even when you're wearing it."

The botanical bandana pattern and the wide, kimono-like sleeves of the cardigan create a surprisingly harmonious combination.

The chic moss green pattern is great because it makes it easy to wear on its own without feeling self-conscious. I also chose moss green socks to match the dress's pattern. The thin waist ribbon can be tied in the back or in the front.

[Mimi's Fashion Class] Retrospective Interview
Wearing spring-colored clothes really brightens your mood, doesn't it?
"This outfit not only brightens your mood but also your complexion, so I highly recommend it to people of our generation. As we get older, our skin inevitably becomes duller, so we need to rely on white and bright-colored clothes, but I think it's even better if we incorporate spring-like colors."
—Why did you choose yellow as the color of spring this time?
"Pink is lovely, but because it has a cute image, I always feel a bit self-conscious wearing it. With yellow, I can think of combinations as an extension of beige, so I thought it wouldn't be too difficult to wear. As I've shown you today, yellow goes well not only with monochrome but also with blue and navy, so it's easy to incorporate into everyday wear and I recommend it."
—But I'm worried about whether I can pull off spring colors.
"When you get used to wearing chic, muted colors, it takes courage to wear brightly colored clothes, doesn't it? But please try it out with accessories or innerwear that peeks out. You'll probably be surprised by its power and think, 'Wow, my complexion looks better!'"
