Cat toy: Firefly squid
Hello everyone. This month I tried making a toy for the cat that my family keeps at home. Looking back, I realize I've mostly been making things for friends, family, and myself, and I've never made anything for a pet before.
My childhood dream was to own a cat. However, my mother never approved of pets, and despite my persistent attempts to negotiate for about 10 years, she absolutely refused. I would hear envious stories from friends who owned cats, such as, "On cold days, they just crawl into my futon and snuggle up to my back," which only made me yearn for one more. In the end, my wish remained unfulfilled as I became independent and started living on my own. With frequent business trips and travels that kept me away from home, the idea of owning a cat simply vanished from my mind.
But one day when I went back to my parents' house, I found a cat relaxing happily under the kotatsu! I learned that my brother's daughter, Mayu-chan, who lives with my mother, had brought the cat home. Despite my repeated pleas, my mother had refused to let me have a cat, but she was easily persuaded by her love for her granddaughter, and she doted on her granddaughter and the cat, saying, "It's so cute!" Oh, Mom...

Now, regarding the cat life I've always dreamed of, unfortunately, I've discovered I'm allergic to cats. When I'm around them, my eyes turn bright red and my nose runs uncontrollably. I love them, but I can't get too close, so next time I'll play with them using this squid toy.

During the creation process, my daughter said, "Shouldn't a firefly squid glow?", so I incorporated a battery-powered light-up mechanism. This is how I maintain a comfortable distance from my cat. All's well that ends well?
