This month's material is a cardboard tube from a roll of plastic wrap. However, since cardboard tubes are very sturdy, cutting them can be a bit tricky! So, we'll introduce some tips for cutting them straight and some handy tools to help you do just that. They're difficult to work with, but that's because they're strong and long-lasting, so please try making something you really like!

① A small craft saw is handy. Apply masking tape around the area you want to cut, and then move the saw along the edge of the tape to make a straight cut. Afterwards, remove the masking tape. Cut to your desired length.

② Attach a piece of cardboard to the cross-section of the cardboard tube that will form the base. Once dry, cut off the excess along the outline with a utility knife. The key is to press the blade against the outline of the cardboard tube and cut by drawing lines repeatedly.

③ Cut the fabric so that it is 1 cm above and below the height of the cardboard tube, and 0.5 cm around the circumference of the tube. Apply a little diluted wood glue to the front of the tube with a brush and attach the fabric. Fold the opening inwards and glue it, and make cuts in the glued area at the bottom and glue it. Also, glue a round piece of colored construction paper to the bottom.

④ Optionally, attach braid or lace, and place the lace motif in the center of the front. Glue the five decorated cores side by side to complete the project (feel free to arrange them in a straight line or slightly different positions).

★When using fresh flowers, it's a good idea to place an empty drink bottle or similar container inside the stem.

Finishing it with various ribbons instead of fabric is also a lovely idea. While considering color combinations, wrap the ribbons around the core and glue them in place, then attach a knot to hide the connection point. This is a great way to use up leftover ribbons.
