Using a removable canvas, you can do cross-stitch on items like handkerchiefs and shirts.

What is a canvas with a removable layer?

Cross-stitch is typically done on special fabric with a thread count that makes it easy to count, but by using a mesh-like fabric called "removable canvas," you can create regular cross-stitches even without special fabric. It's a unique technique where you remove the canvas threads one by one after stitching, but it's very easy to use!

How to use the canvas removal feature

Cut the removable canvas slightly larger than the design and place it on top of the embroidered fabric.

To prevent the canvas from moving, roughly sew around the edges to temporarily secure it.

Let's do a cross stitch. Bring the needle out of the squares on the canvas and insert it into the square diagonally to the lower right.

Take the needle out of the next square to the left and insert it into the square diagonally to the lower right, just like in step 3.

Once you've finished stitching the squares according to the pattern, the next step is to work your way back up and continue stitching.

Once you've finished stitching one row, embroider the row to your left.

Repeat steps ③ through ⑤, embroidering from right to left while moving back and forth vertically.

The cross-stitch is complete. *There are other ways to stitch besides this method.

Remove the temporary stitching, and if there is too much excess canvas, trim it a little.

Remove the warp or weft threads from the canvas one by one.

When removing the canvas from the embroidered area, do so slowly and carefully, pulling it horizontally to the fabric.

Once you've removed all the canvas, the embroidery is complete.
