Handwoven accessories / Beloved handmade items

The charm of hand weaving makes everyday life a little more special.

My interest in hand weaving began when I worked as a stylist on a book for the yarn specialty store "Avril." I was captivated by the beauty of the colors and woven patterns, and I started attending classes as a hobby.

After pregnancy and childbirth, when it became difficult to go out, I bought a 40cm wide tabletop loom and started weaving at home. Weaving small coasters and mats little by little in my free time was very enjoyable and became a wonderful way to refresh myself amidst my busy daily life. Now I'm attending classes again and have also bought a larger loom for home, enjoying all kinds of hand weaving.

It's so enjoyable to work with your hands mindlessly, and it's exciting to watch the threads gradually transform into fabric in a regular pattern. Sometimes the finished product doesn't turn out as you imagined, and other times, using threads you wouldn't normally choose can result in something much better than you expected.

It has mathematical elements, and the more I learn, the more I feel its depth. If you pursue mastery of the technique, the weaving patterns become endlessly complex, but I prefer simple patterns that blend seamlessly into everyday life. Traditional Scandinavian patterns are exactly like that, and there are so many wonderful ones.

This spring, I also started a creative project called "I AM CLUMSY." I make handwoven accessories that aren't as perfectly made as mass-produced items, but that make everyday life a little more special when you have them around, and that make you feel happy when you own them. I would be happy if I could convey the joy and richness of handweaving to many people through my work.
